Kerry receives communion at Wuerl’s installation

August 10, 2006

True, this happened over a month ago, but I thought it should be discussed nevertheless. At the installation Mass of Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C. on June 26, 2006, John Kerry received communion from Archbishop Pietro Sambi, the apostolic nuncio to the United States.

Does this settle the question for the U.S. episcopacy as to whether or not pro-choice politicians ought to receive communion? How should we interpret this move?
