Cardinal Martino awarded "Pilgrim of Peace" prize

Franciscan Cardinal Renato Martino was awarded today the The Assisi International Center for Peace Among People “Pilgrim of Peace” prize. Martino received the award in his native town of Salerno, Italy on his 74th birthday. The award, given by secular and religious leaders, recognizes Martino’s work for peace and justice as a apostolic nuncio, Holy See representative to the United Nations, and as Cardinal President of two pontifical councils.

Past winners of the “Prilgrim of Peace” prize include Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.
